Women’s Track & Field Competes at Harvard Challenge

Cambridge, MA- Sophomore Margaret Connelly (Chicago, IL), junior Lacey Craker (Baraboo, WI) and senior Susan Scavone (Summit, NJ) each won titles yesterday afternoon during the Harvard Challenge at Gordon Track & Tennis Center at Harvard University.

Connelly won the one mile race with a time of 5:00.18, while senior teammate Ari Garber (North Falmouth, MA) crossed the finish line right behind with a second place time of 5:01.33.

Scavone captured the 60m hurdle win in 8.54 seconds, and freshman Jordan DeLoach (Bowie, MD) ran it in 8.90 seconds for third place. Brown's final title was won by Craker in the weight throw, who recorded a 16.20m toss, while freshman Heather Vermilion (Visalia, CA) followed behind with a third place throw.

Also competing well for the Bears was sophomore Colby Lubman (Commack, NY), who finished in third place in the 200m dash, and Scavone came in fifth place.

Sophomore Megan Palmer (Whitefish Bay, WI) and freshman Alexandra Stanton (Medfield, MA) earned fifth and sixth place finishes, respectively, in the 500m dash, and sophomore Brienna Crimmins (Sacramento, CA) came in third in the long jump and senior Jara Crear (New Orleans, LA) placed fourth.

The Bears will now prepare for the Tribute to Charles Torpey hosted at URI on Feb. 4, and will then head to Millrose Collegiate Invitational on Feb. 11 in New York.
