Cambridge, MA- The Brown University women's track & field team competed at the USATF New England Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted at Harvard this weekend. The Bears had many solid performances, which include Rachel Biblo's titles in both the long jump and triple jump, as well as Susan Scavone's first-place in the 60-meter hurdles.
Brown's jumpers and throwers once again did a phenomenal job over the weekend, with Biblo leading the way for the jumps squad. Biblo's leap of 18-05.25 (5.62m) garnered the title in the long jump, and followed it up with another first-place performance in the triple jump with a 38-09.75 (11.83m). Also competing for Bruno in the long jump was Jocelyn West, who finished in sixth place with a 15-09.75 (4.82m). West also competed in the high jump, and registered a height of 5-00.25 (1.35m) to earn seventh.
In the throwing events, Victoria Buhr tossed a 44-00.00 (13.41m) in the shot put for second place, and Jessica Eason followed right behind with a 41-0-.50 throw (12.53m) for third place. In the weight throw, Brynn Smith's 57-02.00 (17.42m) was good for fourth, and Lacey Craker's 54-08.25 (16.67m) earned fifth place.
Scavone led the Bears' runners winning the 60m hurdles in 8.86 seconds, and earned fifth place in the 60m dash with a tine of 8.08 seconds. Brielle Beaudette finished sixth overall in the 400m dash in 59.71 seconds, and Tess Plant-Thomas came in sixth in the 800m run with a 2:18.95. Following close behind was Lucy Higgins, who ran the 800 in 2:23.41 for 12th.
The Bears are currently gearing up for the Ivy League Indoor Heptagonal Championships in New York on Feb. 25-26.
