Four Bears Earn USTFCCCA Women's Track & Field All-Academic Honors
Providence, RI- Four members of the Brown women's track & field team were among the 551 athletes recognized by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as All-Academic Honorees, the organization announced on Wednesday. Gabriela Baiter (Greenlawn, NY), Lauren Pischel (La Jolla, CA), Brynn Smith (Saco, ME) and Ariel Wright (Oakland, CA) each received All-Academic honors.

Providence, RI- The Ivy League released its spring list of Academic All-Ivy honorees, with 10 Brown student-athletes being recognized. The five males and five females were starters or key reserves on their respective varsity teams and carry a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.

Danielle Grunloh Completes Season at NCAA Championships
Eugene, OR- Senior Danielle Grunloh rounded out the competition for the Brown University track & field team at the Division I NCAA Championships. Her throw of 50-10.75 placed her 21st in the shot put, as she was one of five members of the team to be competing at National level this week.

Brown's Craig Kinsley Captures National Championship!
Eugene, OR - With an incredible throw of 250'3" at the 2010 Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships, junior Craig Kinsley has become the first NCAA outdoor champion in the javelin at Brown University. Kinsley is now just the third NCAA Outdoor Champion is school history, and the first since Gilbert Borjeson's title in the hammer throw in 1952.

Brown Track & Field Heads to NCAA Championship
Providence, RI- Brown University will be represented this week by five athletes competing at the 2010 Division I NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon. You can follow the championships through live results, and also through the live television coverage found on CBS College Sports, Friday, June 11, starting at 8:00 p.m., EST. The final day of competition will be aired live on CBS, Saturday, June 12, beginning at 1:00 p.m., EST.

Danielle Grunloh & Craig Kinsley Named Northeast Region Field Athletes of the Year

Both will be competing in the 2010 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships from June 9-12 in Eugene, Ore.

Bears Qualify Five to Track & Field NCAA Championship
Greensboro, N.C. – Five members of the Brown University Track & Field team earned spots at the 2010 NCAA Championships, advancing through the preliminary round held at UNC Greensboro. The Bears had some outstanding performances throughout the three-day event, which included Craig Kinsley’s javelin throw title and Danielle Grunloh’s eighth place mark in the shot put.

Brown Track & Field Set for NCAA Championship East Preliminary Round
Greensboro, NC- Twelve members of the Brown University track and field team have qualified for the NCAA Championships East Preliminary Round, as the field was announced Friday by the NCAA. Five men and seven women will represent Brown in Greensboro, N.C. North Carolina A&T will play host to the top athletes east of the Mississippi River May 27-29.

Brown Track & Field Compete at ECAC/IC4A Championship
The Brown University track & field team competed at the ECAC/IC4A Championship this weekend hosted at Princeton University’s Weaver Stadium. Both teams had some solid performances this weekend, which included Danielle Grunloh’s shot put title to help lead the women to third place in the 49-team field, and Bryan Powlen and Craig Kinsley’s titles helped guide the Bears to an eighth place finish out of the men’s 52-team field.

Brown Track & Field Earns All-Ivy Honors
Providence, RI- Sixteen members of the men’s and women’s Brown University Track & Field team earned All-Ivy honors. The Ivy League determines its All-Ivy teams based solely upon performance at the Heptagonals Championship hosted at Princeton University on May 8-9. The event winners also earn first-team All-Ivy status with the runners up taking a spot on the second team.

Bears Hold on For Second Place Finish at Ivy League Heptagonal Championship
Princeton, NJ- The Brown University women's track & field team finished in second place with 132 points during the 2010 outdoor Ivy League Heptagonal Championship hosted at Princeton University at Weaver Track & Field Stadium this afternoon. The Bears fell just 14.5 points behind champion Cornell, but stunned the league with its outstanding performances across the board. Numerous athletes moved into Brown's all-time Top 10 list, and both Brynn Smith and Danielle Grunloh set new meet records! Smith crushed an Ivy League record in the hammer throw and Grunloh dominated in the shot put breaking the meet record.

Princeton, NJ- The Brown University women’s track & field team competed at the 10th annual Larry Ellis Invitational on April 16-17 at Weaver Stadium at Princeton University. The Bears had a plethora of great performances, which included a stellar 5,000-meter run by Ariel Wright, whose 13-second personal record of 16:22.18 broke a current school record.

Providence, RI- The Brown Women's Track & Field team had a great day at the Brown Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Bears earned the title with 225 points, and were followed by Rhode Island (154.5), Harvard (97), Connecticut (60), Providence (60), SCSU (11.5) and Bryant (11).

Throws Gear up for Outdoor Season
Led by coach Michelle Eisenreich, who earned the title of NCAA East Regional Assistant Coach of the Year, 2009 was one of the most successful seasons the Brown throws group has ever seen. Not only did the squad dominate the Heptagonal Championships by scoring 34 points in the men’s events and 44 in the women’s events, our throwers also earned several All-Ivy honors, All-East Region honors and one All-American honor. Many of these athletes return this year and will drive the team to higher levels of success.

Hanover, NH- The Brown University women’s track & field team finished in fifth place with 55 points during the 2010 Ivy League Indoor Heptagonal Championship hosted at Dartmouth College this weekend. Princeton earned the title with 125 points, followed by Columbia (110), Cornell (96), Harvard (61), Brown, Penn (48), Yale (16) and Dartmouth (16).

The women’s team is tied for first place with Princeton with 31 points, and the men are currently in third with 14 points. Both squads did an outstanding job today and have athletes competing in the finals tomorrow.

Craig Lake Steps Down As Director of Track & Field and Cross Country At Brown
Craig Lake, the Director of Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track & Field at Brown University since 2005, has stepped down from her position to pursue other options, in an announcement made by Brown Athletic Director Michael Goldberger. Lake will be replaced on an interim basis by 10-year Brown assistant coach Michelle Eisenreich.

Women’s Track & Field Earns Fourth Place at Armory
The Brown University women’s track & field team did a fantastic job competing at the Armory this past weekend. The Bears finished in fourth overall with a score of 72.60, finishing behind Maryland (121.60), Columbia (110) and Virginia (107.33). Highlighting the meet was Ariel Wright’s 3,000-meter time, which did not only earn the title, but also places her fourth overall in Brown’s all-time Top 10 list.

Boston, MA – The Brown women’s track & field team competed at the Paul Turner Select Meet in the Gordon Track Center at Harvard University on Saturday afternoon. The Bears held out several distance runners and their entire jumps squad, but saw positive results elsewhere as the teams gears up for the upcoming meets. The women placed second to Harvard (67) with a total of 54 points.

Brown University Assistant Track & Field Coach Jerome Romain will be leaving Brown as he has accepted a job at the University of Tennessee. Romain spent the last four seasons with the Bears as an assistant for jumps and multi-events under Head Coach Craig Lake.

Willard Places Sixth at IAAF World Championships
At the IAAF World Championships in Berlin, Brown graduate Anna Willard finished sixth in the 1,500m with a time of 4:06.19 distinguishing herself as one of the top middle-distance runners in the world. The race was won by Maryan Yusuf Jamal of Bahrain in a time of 4:03.74 following the disqualification of Spain’s Natalia Rodriguez after she pushed over Ethopian Gelete Burka.

Former Track & Field Sensation Anna Willard ’06 Enjoys a Successful 2009 Season
Former Brown Track & Field standout Anna Willard ’06 continues to make huge waves in the international track world when she recently won the 800m run at the Reebok Grand Prix in New York City and followed it up with a title in the 1,500m run at the London Grand Prix. Willard also took home the highest profile win of her career with a thrilling come-from-behind victory in the 800m at the IAAF Golden League Track & Field meet in Paris, France.

Brown Track & Field Honored by USTFCCCA
The Brown University men’s and women’s track & field teams have recently been honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) be being named Division I All-Academic Track and Field Teams. The selection of the All-Academic Indoor and Outdoor Scholar Teams of the Year award is based on a combination of academic and athletic achievements. To be nominated, the team must carry a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
