Providence, RI- The Women's Tennis team continued play Saturday at the 2003 Brown Invitational Tournament. Daisy Ames '07 and Alex Arlak '05 both competed in the quarterfinals of the Flight "B" Singles bracket. Leading the way to the Bears in doubles play was the team of Kerry Meath '05 and Kim Singer '06 who also competed in Saturday's quarterfinals.
In Flight "B" Singles, both Ames and Arlak matched up against players from Yale, making the final rounds of play an all-Ivy affair. Despite good play, Ames lost to her opponent 6-1, 4-6 (10), while Arlak lost 6-3, 6-4. Despite Saturday's losses, the two will play against each other for third place in the bracket.
In other Singles action, Singer and Meath competed in the Flight "A" Singles Consolation bracket. Both made it to the quarterfinals on Saturday, beating players from Boston College and Boston University, respectively. In the quarters, Singer lost 6-1, 6-1 to an opponent from Yale, while Meath also fell in 6-1, 6-1 to an opponent from Syracuse.
Meath and Singer switched gears to compete as a duo in the quarterfinals
of the Flight "A" doubles. After beating a duo from Seton Hall in the first round, the pair lost 8-4 to a strong team from Boston College.
In the Flight "B" Doubles consolation, Arlak and senior Victoria Beck had a bye into the finals to be played on Sunday. Freshman Amanda Saiontz and Ames teamed up to beat a team from Temple en route to the quarterfinal round of the Flight "C" Doubles Consolation bracket.
