Bears Defeat Dartmouth, 4-3, in Final Match of the Season

PROVIDENCE, RI - The women's tennis team (10-11, 2-5) closed out the 2004 season with a 4-3 victory over Dartmouth, on Sunday afternoon in Providence. Playing in her final collegiate match, senior Victoria Beck (Wellington, New Zealand) helped to lead the Bears with a win at #2 doubles and a win at #3 singles.

Brown won the doubles point, taking a 1-0 lead before the start of the singles matches. Winning for the Bears was the duo of freshman Michelle Pautler (Kamuela, HI) and Beck (Wellington, New Zealand) at #2 (8-5), and the duo of freshmen Daisy Ames (Atlanta, GA) and Amanda Saiontz (Miami, FL) at #3 (8-6).

In singles action, Beck and Pautler each won their respective matches in three sets, while Saiontz took her match in two sets. Beck won at #3 (5-7, 6-4, 6-3), while Pautler won at #6 (1-6, 6-1, 6-4). Saiontz was victorious at #4 (6-1, 6-2).
