PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown women's tennis team (10-7, 1-3) dropped a 4-3 decision to Columbia on Saturday afternoon at the Erickson Athletic Complex. The Bears earned the doubles point, but Columbia posted wins in four of the six singles matches to earn the victory.
Brown's doubles wins came at #1, where senior Alex Arlak (Leonia, NJ) and sophomore Daisy Ames (Atlanta, GA) picked up an 8-6 win, and at #3, where freshmen Kelley Kirkpatrick (Villanova, PA) and Ashley Pariser (Alexandria, VA) also earned an 8-6 win.
In singles action, the Bears' lone wins came at #3 and #4. Arlak earned a quick, 6-3, 6-2, win at #3, while freshman Anita Ivancevic (Delray Beach, FL) posted a 7-6 (3), 6-3 win at #4. Three of the remaining four singles matches went three sets, with Brown winning the first set in all three, but the Bears couldn't get the third and decisive set in any of the three, as the Lions picked up the win.
Brown continues action on Friday, April 22, when it travels to Dartmouth for a 3:00 p.m. match.
