Bears Drop 5-2 Decision to Cornell

ITHACA, NY - The Brown women's tennis team (4-11, 0-3) dropped a 5-2 decision at Cornell on Friday afternoon. The Bears fell behind, 1-0, after losing the doubles point, and never recovered as the Big Red earned wins in four of the six singles matches.

In doubles action, sophomores Kelley Kirkpatrick (Villanova, PA) and Ashley Pariser (Alexandria, VA) captured an 8-6 victory at the #1 position.

Brown won at the top two singles spots, but it wasn't enough, as Pariser and junior Michelle Pautler (Kamuela, HI) both dropped hard-fought three-set matches at #3 and #6, respectively.

Junior Daisy Ames (Atlanta, GA) won at #1 singles, 6-4, 6-1, while junior Amanda Saiontz (Miami, FL) picked up the other win at #2, winning 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.

The Bears will look to rebound tomorrow, Saturday, April 15, when they travel to New York City to face Columbia at 12:00 noon.
