Women's Tennis Defeats #70 Princeton, 5-2

The women's tennis team improved to 12-7 on the season and 1-2 in the Ivy League on Saturday afternoon, defeating Princeton, 5-2.

The Bears started the match by winning the doubles point at sophomores Alex Arlak (Leonia, NJ) and Kerry Meath (St. Paul, MN) won the deciding match at #1 doubles by a 9-8 (5) score. The duo of junior Victoria Beck (Wellington, New Zealand) and freshman Stephanie Falconi (New York, NY) also earned a victory in doubles action, taking an 8-6 decision at #2.

In singles action, the Bears dropped the first two matches, at #1 and #2, but won the next three matches, all in straight sets, en route to their first Ivy win of the season. Freshman Yelena Klurfeld (Brooklyn, NY) led the way with a win at #3 (6-2, 7-5), while Arlak picked up a win at #4 (6-4, 6-1). Freshman Kimberly Singer (Newport Beach, CA) won at #5, (6-3, 6-2), while junior Bridget Barbera (Pelham, NY) rounded out the win with a victory at #6 (7-5, 6-3).

Brown continues action on Tuesday, April 15, facing Dartmouth at 3:00 p.m. in Hanover, New Hampshire.
