The Brown women's tennis team (8-6) dropped its final two matches of a spring break trip to California, falling to #74 Loyola Marymount, 6-1, and to #49 Long Beach State, 6-1.
Against Loyola Marymount, the doubles team of juniors Kerry Meath (St. Paul, MN) and Alex Arlak (Leonia, NJ) picked up an 8-5 win for Brown's lone doubles victory, winning at #1. In singles, action, LMU handed the Bears' loses in five of the six matches. Senior Victoria Beck (Wellington, New Zealand) earned Brown's lone victory, winning at #3 (7-5, 6-3).
Against Long Beach State, Brown again lost the doubles point, as Beck and freshman Michelle Pautler (Kamuela, HI) earned Brown's only win at #2 (8-5). In singles action, it was again Beck picking up the only win for the Bears, winning at #3 (6-1, 6-1).
The Bears continue action on Friday, April 9, when they host Pennsylvania at 2:00 p.m. in their 2004 Ivy League opener.
