PHILADELPHIA, PA - The #61 Brown women's tennis team (16-2, 2-0) won its 12th straight match on Friday afternoon, 5-2 over Penn. The victory gives the Bears their first over the Quakers in head coach Paul Wardlaw's tenure and avenges last year's 5-2 loss to Penn.
The Bears won the doubles point with the team of sophomore Bianca Aboubakare (Orange, CA) and freshman Cassandra Herzberg (Miami Beach, FL), ranked 69th in the nation, posting an 8-4 win at #1, and the team of Carissa Aboubakare (Orange, CA) and senior Sara Mansur (Houston, TX) earning an 8-6 win at #2.
Brown continues action tomorrow afternoon when it takes on #47 Princeton in a key Ivy League battle. The Tigers lost to Yale, which Brown defeated last weekend, earlier this afternoon.
