Pariser Clinches 4-3 Victory over Loyola Marymount with Win at #5 Singles

MARYMOUNT, CA - The Brown women's tennis team (7-4) picked up its second straight win in California, defeating Loyola Marymount, 4-3, on Wednesday afternoon in Marymount. Freshman Ashley Pariser Alexandria, VA) improved her singles record to 7-1 with a match-clinching victory at #5 singles, 6-2, 6-4.

The Bears fell behind, 1-0, after doubles action, dropping all three doubles matches, including a close 9-7 decision at #1.

However, Brown fought back in singles competition, winning four of the six matches to earn the 4-3 victory. Sophomore Daisy Ames (Atlanta, GA) led off with a win at #3, 6-3, 6-2 to tie the match at 1-1, and freshman Kelley Kirkpatrick (Villanova, PA) posted a 6-4, 6-1 win at #6 to give Brown a 2-1 lead.

However, wins at #2 and #4 singles, gave the Lions a 3-2 advantage, before sophomore Amanda Saiontz (Miami, FL) posted a 6-3, 6-4 win at #1 to even the match at 3-3, setting up Pariser's clinching win at #5 singes.

Brown continues action on Thursday, March 31, when they face Cal Poly San Luis Obispo at 5:00 p.m. EST.
