Bears Sweep UConn, 7-0

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown women's tennis team (4-6) snapped its four game skid on Wednesday afternoon with a 7-0 sweep of the University of Connecticut (3-8). Brown won all three doubles matches and picked up straight-set wins in five of the six singles matches to earn the victory.

In doubles action, juniors Daisy Ames (Atlanta, GA) and Kara Zeder (Miami, FL) opened the match with an 8-1 win. Freshmen Brett Finkelstein (North Caldwell, NJ) and Sara Mansur (Houston, TX) followed with an 8-4 win at #2, while junior Amanda Saiontz (Miami, FL) and freshman Alexa Baggio (Coopersburg, PA) won by an 8-0 score at #3.

In singles action, Ames started things off with a 6-2, 6-2 win at #1. Saiontz was victorious at #2, winning 6-4, 6-0, while Mansur picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win at #3. Finkelstein earned a 6-2, 6-4 win at #4, while Baggio posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at #6.

The tightest contest came at the #5 position, where Zeder battled into a super-tiebreaker, and claimed a 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 victory.

The Bears return to action on Monday, March 27th, when they travel to Florida Atlantic for a 1:00 p.m. match.
