The women's tennis team improved to 9-4 on the season with a 5-2 victory over UC Santa Barbara on Sunday, March 23. Brown was led by freshman Yelena Klurfeld (Brooklyn, NY), who won at #2 singles, 6-2, 6-1.
After dropped all three doubles matches to the Gauchos, including a close 7-9 decision at #1, the Bears rebounded to win five of the six singles matches en route to the 5-2 victory.
Junior Victoria Beck (Wellington, New Zealand) won the closest singles match of the day, at #3, as she won 6-4, 4-6, (10-7) in the only match that went three sets. Sophomore Alex Arlak (Leonia, NJ) nearly won every point at #4 singles, winning 6-0, 6-2, while freshman Kimberly Singer (Newport Beach, CA) also lost just two points at #5, winning the match 6-1, 6-1. Freshman Stephanie Falconi (New York, NY) won the final match of the day, at #6, winning 6-1, 6-2.
Brown continues action on Monday, March 24, when the Bears face Cal Poly San Luis Obispo at 12:00 noon in California.
