PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown women's tennis team (5-3) posted a 4-3 victory over Virginia Tech on Sunday afternoon at the Pizzitola Center Courts. Freshman Kelley Kirkpatrick (Villanova, PA) helped to lead the way with wins at #3 doubles and #6 singles.
The Hokies opened the match, by taking the doubles point. However, the Bears bounced back in singles to take four of the six matched to earn the win. Kirkpatrick and freshman Ashley Pariser (Alexandria, VA) posted the lone doubles win for Brown at #3, winning 8-2.
In singles action, the Bears claimed the last four spots with freshman Anita Ivancevic (Delray Beach, FL) winning 7-6 (4), 6-2 at #3. Sophomore Daisy Ames (Atlanta, GA) followed with a 6-3, 6-4 win at #4, while sophomore Michelle Pautler (Kamuela, HI) earned a 6-2, 6-2 win at #5. Kirkpatrick won the final match, at #6, winning 6-2, 7-5.
Brown continues action on Sunday, March 27, when it begins its spring training trip in California with a match at Long Beach State.
