Bears Fall to Boston College, 4-3

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to Boston College on Friday afternoon, at the Pizzitola Center Courts. Sophomore Daisy Ames (Atlanta, GA) helped to lead the Bears with wins at #1 doubles and #4 singles.

Brown opened the match, by winning the doubles point as the duo of sophomores Amanda Saiontz (Miami, FL) and Michelle Pautler (Kamuela, HI) picked up a quick 8-2 win at #2. The Bears and the Eagles battled at #1 and at #3, with the Brown duo of Ames and senior Alex Arlak (Leonia, NJ) winning 9-7 at #1 as the Bears took a 1-0 lead. Freshmen Kelley Kirkpatrick (Villanova, PA) and Ashley Pariser (Alexandria, VA) dropped a close 9-7 decision at #3.

In singles action, freshman Anita Ivancevic (Delray Beach, FL) picked up a 7-5, 6-2 win at #3, while Ames won at #4, 6-2, 6-0. Brown dropped two of the singles matches in three sets, as Arlak lost 0-6, 7-5, 2-6 at #2, and Pautler lost at #5, 6-2, 3-6, 3-6.

The Bears continue action on Sunday, March 20, when they host Virginia Tech at 10:30 a.m.
