NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - The Brown women's tennis team ((4-2) earned a dominating 7-0 victory over Rutgers in a non-league match on Sunday afternoon. Senior Alex Arlak (Leonia, NJ) helped to lead the Bears with wins at #1 doubles and #2 singles.
Brown claimed the doubles point with Arlak and sophomore Daisy Ames (Atlanta, GA) picking up an 8-4 win at #1 and the freshman duo of Kelley Kirkpatrick (Villanova, PA) and Ashley Pariser (Alexandria, VA) winning at #2, also 8-4.
In singles action, sophomore Amanda Saiontz (Miami, FL) led the way with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory at #1, while Arlak won at #2, 6-3, 6-1. Freshman Anita Ivancevic (Delray Beach, FL) posted a 6-0, 6-4 win at #3, while Ames earned a 6-3, 6-4 win at #4. Sophomore Michelle Pautler (Kamuela, HI) won at #5, 6-1, 6-3. Brown won at #6, by default, because the match had already been clinched.
The Bears continue action on Friday, March 18, when they host Boston College at 3:00 p.m.
