Women's Tennis Improves To 3-1 With 7-0 Win Over UMass

Brown won all but one doubles match, en route to a 7-0 win over UMass in its first dual match of the 2002 season. Sophomore Victoria Beck led the way, picking up a 6-1, 6-4 win at #1 singles and an 8-4 victory at #1 doubles with freshman Alex Arlak. Arlak won her singles match at #3, 6-1, 6-2.
Freshman Kerry Meath, who won at #4 singles, 6-2, 6-0, remains undefeated in singles action, with a 13-0 singles record. She also improved her doubles record with an 8-0 win at #3 doubles with junior Caroline Casey. Casey won her singles match at #5, 6-0, 6-0.
In other singles action, junior co-captain Maria Elena del Valle won at #6, 6-0, 6-0, and in the closest match of the afternoon, freshman Adriana Marianella picked up a victory at #2 singles, 4-6, 6-2 (10-2).
Brown continues action on Saturday, March 2, when they compete at Seton Hall in a 6:00 p.m. match.
