Bears Fall to Syracuse, 5-2

SYRACUSE, NY - The Brown women's tennis team (1-1) dropped a 5-2 decision to Syracuse in a non-league match on Sunday afternoon. The Bears dropped all three doubles matches and won at #4 and #6 singles in the loss.

All three of Brown's doubles teams lost by the same score, 8-5, as Syracuse started the match with a 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point.

In singles action, senior Alex Arlak (Leonia, NJ) lost her match at #1, before sophomore Daisy Ames (Atlanta, GA) won Brown's first point, winning at #4, 6-0, 6-3. Syracuse won the next two matches, at #3, in straight sets, and at #2, a three-set match to clinch the win. Kelley Kirkpatrick (Villanova, PA) earned Brown's final win, at #6, winning 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.

The Bears continue action next Sunday, when they travel to Washington, DC to face American at 11:00 a.m.
