Bears Open Spring Schedule with 5-2 Win over Syracuse

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown women's tennis team (1-0) opened the spring portion of its schedule on Friday evening with a 5-2 victory over visiting Syracuse. Sophomore Ashley Pariser (Alexandria, VA) led the Bears with wins at both #1 doubles, with partner Kelley Kirkpatrick (Villanova, PA) and #3 singles.

Brown started the day by taking the doubles point and Pariser and Kirkpatrick earned an 8-6 win at #1 and junior Kara Zeder (Miami, FL) and freshman Brett Finkelstein (North Caldwell, NJ) posted an 8-5 win at #3.

In singles action, Brown dropped matches at #1 and #5, but earned four wins in straight sets at the other positions to take the 5-2 victory. Junior Amanda Saiontz (Miami, FL) posted a 6-3, 7-6 (5) win at #2, while Pariser earned a 6-0, 6-3 win at #3. Freshman Sara Mansur (Houston, TX) picked up a 7-6 (5), 6-3 win at #4 and Kirkpatrick rounded out the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win at #6.

Brown continues action on Sunday, February 5, when it hosts #75 Boston College at 10:00 a.m.
