Adriana Marianella's focus and determination propelled her to the top of the Brown singles lineup in her freshman year, finishing 15-16 overall in singles, and 6-12 in doubles. A natural baseliner, Adriana is using more of the court, as she continues to improve her net play. An injury prevented her from competing this past fall, but she is expected to be back in the lineup for the spring of 2003. In her last year of juniors, Adriana ranked #9 in Northern California and #85 Nationally. She attended the Palmer Tennis Academy during her high school years, and in 1999 was the Florida Open Doubles winner. In 2000, she received the Sportsmanship Award at the National 18's Columbus Indoors, and during the summer of 2001, finished in the semi-finals on the Monty Tour in Spain. Adriana's mental toughness and solid baseline game will continue to be an asset to the Brown tennis program throughout her career.
