Alex Howard

Position: Assistant Coach
A 1999 graduate of the University of Richmond with a BA in sport management, Alex Howard begins his first year with the Brown women's tennis team.

As a senior, he played #1 singles and compiled an 18-9 record, earning first-team All-Colonial Athletic Conference honors. He also played #1 doubles and was a second-team All-CAA selection.

The 1999 recipient of The Spider Award, which goes to the Richmond athlete who demonstrates sportsmanship, leadership, dignity, and work ethic, he was a two-time team Most Valuable Player and a two-time recipient of the Coaches' Award.

In high school, Howard was a standout on the boy's tennis team at the Wheeler School, where he amassed a 90-0 career record, winning three consecutive Rhode island state singles titles.

Currently he is a certified professional at the Weymouth Club and has just come off a one-year stint on the satellite tour. He is ranked #2 in New England in the Men's Championship division and was honored as the 2000 USTA New England's Adult Male Sportsmanship Award winner.
