Women’s Tennis Competes at Brown Quad

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's tennis team completed hosting the Brown Quad on Sunday. Boston College, Dartmouth and Yale joined the Bears in the two-day tournament.

On Saturday, the Bears won both of their doubles matches against Dartmouth with junior Nandu Mandalap (Princeton Junction, N.J.) and freshman Courtney Kowalsky (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) teaming up for a 6-2 win in the first spot while freshmen Semi Oloko (Canton, Mass.) and Peri Sheinin (East Greenwich, R.I.) recorded a 6-4 win in second doubles.

The Bears won three of their four singles matches against the Big Green with sophomore Juliana Simon (Los Angeles, Calif.) posting a 6-2, 6-0 win in second singles and was followed by Kowalsky (7-5, 6-4) in third and Oloko (6-2, 6-4) in fourth.

Later in the day, the Bears competed against Yale. Simon and junior Katie Ta (Mission Viejo, Calif.) won their first doubles match, 6-1. For singles against the Bulldogs, Sheinin posted a 6-1, 6-1 win in fourth singles.

Brown competed against Boston College on Sunday but were shutout by the Eagles. Sheinin battled in her second doubles match but was edged, 4-6, 6-3 (10-4). Mandalap also had a solid match but lost, 6-2, 3-6, 10-8 in the fourth spot.

The Bears next host the Brown Classic and welcome Arkansas, Boston College, Denver and Utah to Providence. The tournament will run from Friday, Nov. 3 to Sunday, Nov. 5.
