Women’s Tennis Overpowers Boston University, 7-0

BOSTON, Mass. - The Brown women's tennis team defeated Boston University, 7-0, on Sunday at the Boston Athletic Club. The Bears won the doubles point and posted victories in all six singles matches.

Senior Dayna Lord (Bloomfield, Conn.) and junior Alyza Benotto (Los Angeles, Calif.) recorded a 6-2 win in first singles and sophomore Taylor Cosme (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) and senior Mariska Chamdani (Santa Clara, Calif.) teamed up in second singles to clinch the point for Brown with a 6-3 victory.

In singles play, Benotto won in the first spot, 6-4, 6-0. Lord followed in second singles with a 6-0, 7-6 (4) showing. Junior Maddie Stearns (Short Hills, N.J.) took her third singles match, 6-2, 7-5 and freshman Devon Jack (San Marino, Calif.) won fourth singles, 6-3, 4-6 (11-9). Cosme (7-6 (3), 6-1) and freshman Juliana Simon (Los Angeles, Calif.) (6-2, 6-4) closed out singles for the Bears in fifth and sixth singles, respectively.

The Bears next return home and host William & Mary on Saturday, March 25 in a 10:00 a.m. match.
