Women’s Tennis Edged by Cornell, 4-3

PROVIDENCE, RI – The Brown women's tennis team (6-11, 0-4) dropped its second match of the weekend, falling 4-3 to Cornell on Sunday afternoon at the Bears' outdoor tennis courts. Brown won the doubles point with wins at #1 and #3, but the Big Red earned four singles wins, two of which went to a third set, to come back for the victory.

Brown opened the match by taking a 1-0 lead with wins at #1 and #3 doubles. Freshman Hannah Camhi (Syosset, NY) and senior Misia Krasowski (Deerfield, IL) combined to post an 8-5 win at #1, while sophomore Sarah Kandath (Gansevoort, NY) and freshman Olivia Hsu (Santa Rosa, CA) posted an 8-6 win at #3. 

Camhi put Brown ahead, 2-0, with a win in straight sets at #2 singles, but Cornell won matches at #5 and #3 singles, both in straight sets, to tie the score at 2-2. Sophomore Nikita Uberoi (Boca Raton, FL) picked up her second win of the weekend, claiming a three-set victory at #4 singles, to give Brown a 3-2 lead.

Cornell tied the score at 3-3 with a three-set win at #6 singles and then clinched the victory with a three-set decision at #1.  

Brown continues action next Friday, April 19th, when it hosts Harvard in a 12:00 noon match.
