Women’s Tennis Defeats FIU, 6-1

MIAMI, FL – The Brown women's tennis team (6-7) closed out the non-league portion of its schedule with a 6-1 win at Florida International on Friday, March 29th. The Bears won the doubles point with wins at #1 and #2 and then posted victories at #1, #2, #4 and #5 singles, while #6 was won by forfeit to account for the 6-1 final.

In doubles action, Senior Misia Krasowski (Deerfield, IL) combined with freshman Hannah Camhi (Syosset, NY) for an 8-3 win, while junior Jessica Harrow (La Crescenta, CA) combined with sophomore Nikita Uberoi (Boca Raton, FL) for an 8-1 win at #2. Brown's team of sophomore Sarah Kandath (Gansevoort, NY) and freshman Ammu Mandalap (Princeton Junction, NJ) won by forfeit.

Krasowski (7-5, 6-3 at #1), Kandath (6-1, 6-3 at #4) and Uberoi (6-0, 6-2 at #5) all won in straight sets, while Camhi came from behind after dropping the first set to win her match at #2, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 10-8. Mandalap picked up a win at #6 by forfeit.

Brown returns to action on Friday, April 5, when it travels to Philadelphia to face Penn in its 2013 Ivy opener. The match begins at 2:00.
