#67 Women’s Tennis Earns First Win of 2012-13, 4-3 over UMass

PROVIDENCE, RI – The 67th-ranked Brown women's tennis team (1-2) came back after dropping the doubles point to win four singles matches en route to a 4-3 win over UMass (2-1) at the Pizzitola Center Courts on Friday afternoon. Senior Misia Krasowski (Deerfield, IL) and freshman Hannah Camhi (Syosset, NY) led the Bears, as the duo combined for a win at #1 doubles and then won their respective singles matches at #1 and #2.

The Minutewomen took the 1-0 lead after winning at #2 and #3 doubles with identical 8-2 decisions. Krasowski and Camhi also won by an 8-2 score, defeating UMass' Yuliana Motyl and Chantal Swiszcz.

The Bears then claimed wins in three of the first four singles matches off the courts, as Krasowski defeated Motyl in straight sets at #1, 6-4, 6-2, and Camhi defeated Sonia Bokhari in straight sets at #2, 6-2, 6-4. Sophomore Sarah Kandath (Gansevoort, NY) gave Brown its third point with a three-set win at #3 singles, 7-6, 1-6, 6-3.

After dropping the match at #4 singles, the Bears split the final two matches on the court, with freshman Ammu Mandalap's (Princeton Junction, NJ) 7-6, 7-6 win at #5 clinching the 4-3 decision for Brown. 

The Bears continue action next weekend when they travel to Columbia to take part in the three-day ECAC Team Tournament.
