WEST POINT, NY - The Brown women's tennis team competed in doubles action on the first day of competition at the 2012 ITA Northeast Regional, hosted by Army. The Bears advanced all three doubles teams to the Round of 16, as all three teams won two matches on Friday. Brown will continue action at the Tournament on Saturday and Sunday.
Seeded 8th in doubles, senior Misia Krasowski (Deerfield, IL) and freshman Hannah Camhi (Woodbury, NY) posted an 8-1 win over Jennifer Ho and Alex Petrini of Colgate in the Round of 64 and then earned a 9-8 (5) win over Lauren Stratman and Kapika Vaidya of Columbia in the Round of 32.
Seeded 16th in doubles, junior Jessica Harrow (La Crescenta, CA) and freshman Ashley Noyes (Marblehead, MA) shutout Alexandra Livingston and Joniesa Williams from St. Peter's, 8-0, in the Round of 64, before winning, 8-3, over Stef Balasa and Vanessa Petrini of Rutgers in the Round of 32.
Sophomores Sarah Kandath (Ganesvoort, NY) and Nikita Uberoi (Boca Raton, FL) earned a 9-8 (5) win over BC's Jessi Linero and Athanasiadis, seeded 16th, in the Round of 64, before claiming an 8-3 win over Marcela Rosales and Zeynep Mafa of Drexel in the Round of 32.
Brown will resume doubles action on Saturday, while Harrow, Camhi, Kandath, Krasowski and Noyes will begin competition in singles action.
