Women’s Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Team Award; Seven Bears Named ITA Scholar-Athletes
For the eighth year in a row, the Brown women’s tennis team has been recognized with the ITA All-Academic Team Award. Open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above, the All-Academic Team Award was awarded to 109 Division I programs. All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA eligibility form and have competed in one or more varsity match must average into the GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2011 and spring 2012).

Brown Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-Ivy Honors
Providence, R.I. – The Ivy League released its list of student-athletes selected for 2012 spring Academic All-Ivy, with 10 Brown student-athletes being recognized. The five females and five males were starters or key reserves on an officially recognized varsity team with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.

Krasowski Named First Team All-Ivy
Junior women’s tennis standout Misia Krasowski (Deerfield, IL) has been named First Team All-Ivy in singles action in a vote by the League’s eight head coaches. It marks the second consecutive year that Krasowski has earned First Team All-Ivy honors in singles.

#59 Women's Tennis Falls to #28 Yale, 7-0
The 59th-ranked Brown women's tennis team (17-8, 3-4) dropped a 7-0 decision to #28 Yale in the Bears' season finale. The Bulldogs dominated throughout the lineup, winning the three doubles matches with scores of 8-2, 8-5, and 8-2. In singles action, Yale took four of the six matches in straight sets. Junior Misia Krasowski (Deerfield, IL) forced a third set at #1 singles, falling 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, while freshman Sarah Kandath (Gansevoort, NY) fell in three sets at #5, 6-7 (5), 6-2, 1-0 (7).

Harvard Upsets #56 Bears, 4-3
The 56th-ranked Brown women’s tennis team (17-7, 3-3) dropped a 4-3 decision to Harvard on Sunday afternoon in Cambridge. The two teams split the singles matches, with the final decision ultimately coming down to the earlier doubles point. Freshman Nikita Uberoi (Boca Raton, FL) won in both singles and doubles for the Bears, combining with senior Carissa Aboubakare (Orange, CA) for an 8-3 win at #3 doubles, before earning a 6-3, 6-2 win at #6 singles.

#56 Bears Defeat Dartmouth, 5-2, in Final Home Match of Season
The 56th-ranked Brown women’s tennis team (17-6, 3-2) rebounded from a pair of losses last weekend with a 5-2 victory over Dartmouth (8-11, 2-3) in its final home match of the 2012 season. The Bears won the doubles point, taking all three matches, and then claimed wins at the top four singles positions to earn the 5-2 victory.

#48 Women’s Tennis Drops Two Matches on the Road
The 48th-ranked Brown women’s tennis team (16-6, 2-2) dropped a pair of Ivy matches on the road over the weekend, falling to Cornell, 4-3, and to Columbia, 5-2. The Bears dropped the doubles point in both matches, before winning three singles matches against the Big Red and two against the Lions. Freshman Laura Wiley (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) led Brown, going 2-0 in her singles matches at #5 (against Cornell) and #4 (against Columbia).

#53 Bears Defeat Penn, 5-2
The 53rd-ranked Brown women’s tennis team (16-4, 2-0) posted its second win on the weekend with a 5-2 victory over visiting Penn on Saturday afternoon. The Bears won the doubles point with wins at all three positions and claimed singles wins at #2 through #6 for the win. Sophomore Jessica Harrow (La Crescenta, CA) and freshman Laura Wiley (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) were both 2-0 on the day. Harrow won at #3 singles and combined with senior Cassandra Herzberg (Miami Beach, FL) for a win at #1 doubles, while Wiley won at #4 singles and combined with senior Carissa Aboubakare (Orange, CA) for a win at #3 doubles.

#53 Bears Win Ivy Opener, 5-2 over #69 Princeton
The 53rd-ranked Brown women's tennis team (15-4, 1-0) earned a 5-2 win over #69 Princeton in its 2012 Ivy opener Friday afternoon at the Erickson Athletic Complex. The Bears fell behind, 1-0, after dropping the doubles point, but came back to win five of six singles matches to claim the victory. Sophomore Jessica Harrow (La Crescenta, CA) clinched the match for Brown with her win at #3 singles, while junior Misia Krasowski (Deerfield, IL) upset the 96th-ranked player in the nation at #1 singles.

#49 Bears Close Out Non-League Portion of Schedule with 6-1 win at FIU
The 49th-ranked Brown women’s tennis team (14-4) rebounded from a 5-2 loss to #68 Missouri with a 6-1 victory over Florida International on Friday afternoon. The Bears earned the doubles point with wins at all three positions and then claimed five of six singles matches for the 6-1 result. Junior Misia Krasowski (Deerfield, IL) helped to lead Brown with wins at #2 doubles, where she combined with sophomore Ariel Caldwell (Atlanta, GA) for an 8-0 win, and #1 singles, where she won, 6-2, 6-3.

#49 Bears Fall to #68 Missouri, 5-2
Playing its first match after a 12-day hiatus, the 49th-ranked Brown women’s tennis team (13-4) dropped a 5-2 decision to #68 Missouri in a neutral-site match played in Boca Raton, Florida. Brown won the doubles point with wins in all three matches. However, Missouri claimed five of the six singles matches to earn the 5-2 win. Freshman Laura Wiley (Ft. Lauderdale, FL), playing in her home state, posted Brown’s lone singles win, a 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 decision at #4 singles. She also combined with senior Carissa Aboubakare (Orange, CA) for an 8-1 win at #3 doubles to go 2-0 on the day.

#40 Bears defeat Stony Brook, 6-1
The 40th-ranked Brown women’s tennis team (13-3) won its final match before spring break with a 6-1 win over visiting Stony Brook on Friday afternoon. The Sea Wolves had just five players available for the match, but Brown picked up four singles wins and the doubles point to post the 6-1 decision.

#29 Bears Edge Winthrop, 4-3, and Wake Forest, 4-3
Playing outside of the first time since the fall, the 29th-ranked Brown women’s tennis team (11-3) edged both Winthrop (5-9) and Wake Forest (1-8) by identical 4-3 scores in a pair of matches hosted by Wake Forest on Saturday and Sunday. Against the Demon Deacons, Brown battled back from a 2-0 deficit with sophomore Jessica Harrow’s (La Crescenta, CA) straight-set win at #2 singles clinching the victory.

#41 Bears Defeat Boston University, 6-1
The Brown women's tennis team (10-3) earned a 6-1 victory over Boston University on Sunday afternoon. Junior Misia Krasowski (Deerfield, IL) earned a win at the top singles spot, while sophomore Jessica Harrow (La Crescenta, CA) and freshman Sarah Kandath (Gansevoort, NY) both won in singles and doubles with Harrow winning at #3 singles and Kandath winning at #4 singles.

#44 Bears Post Wins over Akron (4-3) and Rhode Island (7-0)
The 44th-ranked Brown women’s tennis team (9-3) picked up a pair of wins on Sunday, defeating Akron (12-1), 4-3, and then closing out the day with a 7-0 win over in-state rival Rhode Island. Junior Misia Krasowski (Highland Park, IL) and sophomore Ariel Caldwell (Atlanta, GA) led the Bears with three wins each, as the duo combined for a doubles win against both opponents and each won a singles match with Krasowski winning at #1 against Akron and Caldwell winning at #3 against URI.

Bears Finish in Fourth Place at ECAC Team Championships
The 38th-ranked Brown women’s tennis team (7-3) dropped its final two matches at the ECAC Team Championships, falling to #43 Princeton, 4-3, in the semifinals and then #54 Boston College, 4-2, in the third-place match. Seeded second in the tournament, the third-seeded Tigers edged the Bears on Saturday, before the fourth-seeded Eagles claimed the third place match on Sunday. Junior Misia Krasowski (Deerfield, IL) and senior Julie Flanzer (Highland Park, IL) led the Bears, as each won their respective singles matches against Princeton and Boston College. Freshman Nikita Uberoi (Boca Raton, FL) also earned a win against Princeton to account for Brown’s third point.

#38 Bears Defeat Columbia, 5-2, in First Round of ECAC Team Championships
The 38th-ranked and second-seeded Brown women’s tennis team (7-1) earned a 5-2 win over seventh-seeded Columbia (3-1) in the First Round of the ECAC Team Championships, held at Yale. Brown claimed the doubles point with wins at #2 and #3 doubles and then earned singles wins at positions 1,4,5, and 6 to close out the 5-2 win. By virtue of the win, the Bears will face third-seeded and 43rd-ranked Princeton in the Semifinals Saturday at 3:00 p.m.

#43 Bears Defeat Binghamton and Seton Hall
The 43rd-ranked Brown women’s tennis team (6-1) cruised to a pair of wins on Saturday, defeating Binghamton, 6-1, and Seton Hall, 7-0, in a double-header at the Pizzitola Center Courts. On the day, Brown was led by junior Misia Krasowski (Deerfield, IL), who was 4-0, playing #1 singles and #1 doubles, with sophomore Ariel Caldwell (Atlanta, GA) in both matches.

#43 Bears Defeat Buffalo, 6-1, and Providence, 4-1
The #43 Brown women’s tennis team (4-1) improved to 4-1 with a pair of wins on Friday evening at the Pizzitola Center. The Bears defeated Buffalo (0-2), 6-1, and then earned a 4-1 win over cross-town rival Providence (3-2) College in a four-and-one match format (four singles and one doubles).

#51 Bears Fall to #8 UNC in Second Round of ITA Kick-Off Weekend
The Brown women’s tennis team (2-1), ranked #51 in the current poll, dropped a 7-0 decision to #8 North Carolina () on Sunday afternoon in Durham. The Bears battled the host Tar Heels, with senior Cassandra Herzberg (Miami Beach, FL) leading the way. Herzberg teamed with sophomore Jessica Harrow (La Crescenta, CA) to post an 8-6 win at #1 doubles, upsetting the Nation’s 48th-ranked doubles team. Herzberg also forced a third set in her singles match at #2 singles against the Nation’s 16th-ranked singles player.

#51 Bears Defeat #34 Virginia Commonwealth, 4-1, in First Round of ITA Kick-Off Weekend
The Brown women’s tennis team (2-0), ranked #51 in the current poll, earned a 4-1 victory over previously undefeated and #34 Virginia Commonwealth (4-1) in the first round of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, hosted by #8 North Carolina. Brown will play the winner of the UNC-Marshall match tomorrow, Sunday, January 29th.

The Brown women’s tennis team (1-0), ranked #53 in the current poll, earned a 4-3 victory over visiting Boston College (1-1), ranked #45 in the current poll. The Bears were led by junior Misia Krasowski (Deerfield, IL), who won at #1 singles and #2 doubles, and senior Julie Flanzer (Highland Park, IL), who earned the match-clinching win at #6 singles.

Three Bears in Singles Finals at 2011 USTA Women’s Collegiate Invitational; Aboubakare and Nikita Uberoi Claim “D” Doubles Title
The Brown women’s tennis team had three players in the finals of their respective singles flights, including freshman Nikita Uberoi (Boca Raton, FL), who won the “G” singles flight, while the doubles team of Uberoi and senior Carissa Aboubakare (Orange, CA) claimed the “D” Doubles Title. For the weekend, Uberoi was a perfect 8-0, going 4-0 in both singles and doubles.

Junior Misia Krasowski (Deerfield, IL) and sophomore Jessica Harrow (La Crescenta, CA) competed at the 2011 ITA Riviera All-America Championships. The duo combined for two matches in doubles action, participating in the Qualifying Rounds, while Krasowski also played a pair of singles matches in Pre-Qualifying action.

Bears Conclude First Competition of the 2011-12 Season
The Brown women’s tennis team hosted the Brown Invitational for its first event of the 2011-12 season. 10 of the 11 players on the roster competed over the weekend with senior Julie Flanzer (Highland Park, IL) leading all players with a 5-1 record, including a 3-0 mark in doubles with classmate Carissa Aboubakare (Orange, CA). Several other Bears were 4-2 on the weekend, posting a 2-1 record in both singles and doubles. They were: sophomore Ariel Caldwell (Atlanta, GA), sophomore Jessica Harrow (La Crescenta, CA), senior Cassandra Herzberg (Miami Beach, FL), and junior Misia Krasowski (Deerfield, IL).
