#66 Bears Edged by #41 Florida International, 4-3

MIAMI, FL – The 66th-ranked Brown women’s tennis team (12-5) came up just short against #41 Florida International, falling to the Golden Panthers, 4-3. The two teams split the singles matches, 3-3, but FIU’s two doubles wins to start the match would prove to be the difference. The match was the final non-league match of the season for Brown, which opens Ivy play this weekend at home against Penn and #33 Princeton.

Sophomore Julie Flanzer (Highland Park, IL) helped to lead the Bears, combining with freshman Misia Krasowski (Deerfield, IL) for an 8-4 win at #2 doubles. Flanzer also won at #4 singles, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5), while Brown’s other two singles wins came from junior Bianca Aboubakare (Orange, CA) at #2 (6-3, 6-1) and junior Marisa Schonfeld (Washington, DC) at #6 (6-3, 6-4).
