The Brown Women's Swim Team defeated Dartmouth 130-75 Saturday afternoon. The Bears won 9 of 12 events against the Big Green. Sophomore Jessie Larsen (Wayland, MA) led the way taking first in both the 1 meter and 3 meter diving competition.
Brown took first in the 300 Yard Medley Relay behind performances by freshman Katie Schlesinger (Houston, TX), Katie Brandstetter (Riverside, CT), and Elisabeth Kruger (Old Greenwich, CT).
The 100 Yard Freestyle Relay team earned a 1-2 sweep with Seniors Liz Daniels (Pittsburgh, PA) and Emily McCoy (Anchorage, AK) and freshmen Lauren Hinkson (Perrysburg, OH) and Eileen Robinson (Harbour Grace, NF) finishing first at 44.66.
The Bears swept the 1-2 postions in the next event of the day as well, the 200 Yard Backstroke Relay, with Senior Lindsay Hoban (Duxbury, MA) and freshmen Emily Brush (Duxbury, MA), Katie Schlesinger (Houston, TX), and Lindsay McKenna (Voorheesville, KY).
In the 9th event of the competition the Bears continued to swim strong and took a first place finish in the 500 Yard Freestyle Relay. Senior Toni Pullman (Shrewsbury, MA), sophomore Lauren Hinkson (Perryburg, OH), and freshmen Ashley Wallace (Chatham, NJ) and Lauren Harlow (Andover, MA) finished 2 seconds ahead of Dartmouth for the win in this event.
Junior Mariana Chuck (Kingston, Jamaica) and freshmen Karly Kopra (Kamuela, HI), Julia Lippe-Klein (Palo Alto, CA), and Sarah Demers (Andover, MA) took first place in the 200 Yard Breaststroke Relay for the Bears, defeating Dartmouth by over 5 seconds.
In the last event of the day, Brown enjoyed a 1-2 sweep in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay. Taking first place included Daniels, McCoy, Brush and McKenna.
Lauren Harlow also took first place for the Bears in the 400 Yard IM, finishing 4.5 seconds better than Dartmouth.
Brown will continue action at home tomorrow when they host Princeton at 3:00 p.m. at the Smith Swim Center.
