Bears in Sixth After Day 1 of Ivy Championships

NASSAU, NY - The Brown women's swimming and diving team is currently in sixth place after the first day of competition at the 2009 Ivy League Championship, being held at Nassau County Aquatic Center. The Bears have a total of 100.5 points and are ahead of Dartmouth (97) and Cornell (46). Harvard leads the field with 353 points, while Princeton is in second with 337 points. Yale (189), Penn (164), and Columbia (161.5) complete the field. However, these scores do not include the 200 Free and 200 Medley Relays, as both are under official review.

In the other four events completed on the first day, junior Katie Olko (Harrison, NY) was Brown's top finisher on the day, earning fourth place in the 1-meter dive with a score of 253.45.

Following the 200 Free Relay, in which Brown's relay team was one of only three to not get disqualified, freshman Allyson Schumacher (Des Moines, WA) posted a time of 4:53.89 to earn 10th in the 500 Free. Senior Ainsley McFadgen (Glace Bay, NS) earned a time of 4:55.50 to earn 12th place in the event.

Sophomore Kelley Wisinger (Warren, NJ) led Brown in the 200 IM, posting a time of 2:06.70 to finish in 20th, while senior Sarah Goodman (Philadelphia, PA) led the Bears in the 50 Free, swimming a time of 23.84 to earn 17th place.
