Bears in Sixth after Day 2 of Competition

CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Brown women's swimming & diving team currently stands in sixth place at the 2006 Ivy League Championships with a total of 570 points. Princeton leads the field with 1047 points, while Harvard is in second with 947 points. Penn (650.5), Columbia (620.5), and Yale (618) are third-fifth, while Dartmouth (414) and Cornell (387) round out the field.

Brown took fourth in the first event of the day, the 200 Medley Relay, with the team of junior Emily Brush (Duxbury, MA), sophomore Aly Wyatt (Ypsilanti, MI), senior Elizabeth Wong (Santa Monica, CA), and senior Eileen Robinson (Harbour Grace, NF) swimming a time of 1:45.83.

In the 1000 Free, freshman Ainsley McFadgen (Glace Bay, NS) was the Bears' top finisher, placing 10th with a time of 10:19.65. Next up was the 400 IM, in which senior Bridgette Cahill (Turnersville, NJ) took 8th with a time of 4:30.19.

Wong led Brown in the 100 Fly, taking ninth with a time of 56.88, while junior Ashley Wallace (Chatham, NJ) finished in 10th with a time of 57.21. Junior Becky Kowalsky (Fort Myers, FL) led Brown in the 200 Free, taking 10th with a time of 1:53.90, while Wyatt led Brown in the 100 Breast, taking 12th with a time of 1:06.60.

Robinson was Brown's top finisher in the 100 Back, taking ninth with a time of 58.42, while Brush took 12th with a time of 58.69.

In the 800 Free Relay, Brown finished sixth with the team of Kowalsky, Robinson, Brush, and McFadgen earning a time of 7:38.89.

The 2006 Championships conclude tomorrow with preliminaries starting at 11:00 a.m and finals beginning at 6:00 p.m. Saturday's events include the 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Fly, 400 Free Relay, 1650 Free, and 3-Meter Diving finals.
