Bears Fall to Yale, 160-140

NEW HAVEN, CT - The Brown women's swimming and diving team (4-3, 4-3) closed out its dual meet competition with a 160-140 loss to Yale on Friday afternoon in Connecticut. HIghlighting the afternoon was senior Jessica Larson (Wayland, MA) breaking the school record on the 3-Meter dive with a score of 308.69. She remains undefeated in both the 1- and the 3-Meter dive, while senior Eileen Robinson (Harbour Grace, NF) won the 50 Free with a time of 23.94 to remain undefeated in that event.

Brown started the day off with a second place finish in the 200 Medley Relay, as the team of junior Emily Brush (Duxbury, MA), sophomore Aly Wyatt (Ypsilanti, MI), senior Elizabeth Wong (Santa Monica, CA), and Robinson swam a time of 1:47.51. The Bears took second and third in the 1000 Free with sophomore Dillon Delaney (West Barnstable, MA) earning second with a time of 10:23.77, and freshman Ainsley McFadgen (Glace Bay, NS) coming in third with a time of 10:24.96.

Junior Becky Kowalsky (Ft. Myers, FL) won the 200 Free with a time of 1:53.91, while junior Kathleyn Brandstetter (Riverside, CT) took 3rd in the 100 Back with a time of 59.56. Junior Julia Lippe-Klein (Palo Alto, CA) led Brown in the 100 Breast, taking third with a time of 1:08.10, while junior Meredeith Cocco (Lafayette Hill, PA) led a 1-2 sweep in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:06.93. Junior Ashley Wallace (Chatham, NJ) was right behind with a time of 2:07.00.

Next up was Robinson's win in the 50 Free, while Larson led a 1-2-3 sweep in the 1-Meter dive with a score of 271.79. Junior Amy Latinen (Fenton, MO) was in second with a score of 255.21, while junior Dana Meadow (Chicago, IL) took third with a score of 235.94.

Robinson then won her second event of the day, earning a time of 52.49 in the 100 Free, while Brush led Brown in the 200 Back with a time of 2:09.61, good for third. Wyatt was Brown's top finisher in the 200 Breast, taking fourth with a time of 2:27.48, while McFadgen led Brown in the 500 Free, earning a time of 5:05.65, good for third.

Wong won the 100 Fly, swimming a time of 57.35, while sophomore Lauren Zatorski (Winnetka, IL) took third with a time of 59.05. Larson's record-breaking dive on the 3-Meter was next, with a score of 208.69, while Latinen took third with a score of 246.75. Cocco earned third in the 200 IM with a time of 2:10.30.

Brown's 400 Free Relay team of Wong, Kowalsky, freshman Sarah Goodman (Philadelphia, PA), and Robinson won the final event of the day, earning a time of 3:31.62.

The Bears continue action February 23-25 when they take part in the 2006 Ivy League Championships, to be held at Harvard.
