Bears Cruise Past Yale, 169-131, in Final Dual Meet of the Season.

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown University women's swimming and diving team (6-3, 5-2) wrapped up its dual season with a 169-131 victory over visiting Yale on Friday evening at the Smith Swim Center. The Bears won nine events en route to the win, including eight straight first place finishes.

The meet started with a Brown victory in the 400 Medley Relay as the team of senior Jessica Brown (Orange, MA), freshman Alexandra Wyatt (Ypsilanti, MI), freshman Lauren Zatorski (Winnetka, IL), and junior Eileen Robinson (Harbour Grace, NF) finished in a time of 1:46.81.

Freshman Dillon Delaney (West Barnstable, MA) earned a first place finish in the 1000 free, clocking in at 10:22.63, while sophomore Becky Kowalsky (Ft. Myers, FL) earned a first place finish in teh 200 free with a time of 1:54.38.

Brown finished first in the 100 back (57.28), while sophomore Emily Brush (Duxbury, MA) earned a third place finish in the event (58.98). Sophomore Julia Lippe-Klein (Palo Alto, CA) took first in the 100 breast (1:07.07), while Wyatt took second in the event (1:07.69).

Sophomore Meredith Cocco (Lafayette, PA) led a 1-3 sweep in the 200 fly, with a time of 2:04.46, good for first place. Sophomore Ashley Wallace (Chatham, NJ) followed with a time of 2:07.50, while junior Katey Mirch (Reno, NV) took third with a time of 2:09.37.

Robinson won the 50 free, swimming a time of 24.21, while junior Elizabeth Wong (Santa Monica, CA) took third with a time of 24.97. Robinson also won the 100 free, swimming a time of 52.79, while sophomore Kathleyn Brandstetter (Riverside, CT) took third with a time of 54.20.

Brush was Brown's top finisher in the 200 back, earning second place with a time of 2:05.61, while Wyatt was Brown's top finisher in the 200 breast, earning third place with a time of 2:27.48.

Kowalsky led the way in the 500 free, clocking in at 5:07.01, good for second place, while Cocco led the Bears in the 100 fly, swimming in a time of 57.95, good for second place. Cocco also led Brown in the 200 IM, earning second place with a time of 2:09.61.

The Bears won the final event of the day, the 400 free relay, with the team of Robinson, Wong, Brandstetter, and Kowalsky earning a time of 3:34.98.

In diving action, junior Jessica Larson (Wayland, MA) led the Bears with a second place finish in both the 1-Meter and the 3-Meter events. She scored a 263.54 in teh 1-Meter and a 252.07 in the 3-Meter.

Brown continues action February 24-26 when they travel to Princeton for the Ivy League Championships.
