Brown Swimming and Diving Teams Earn CSCAA Scholar All-America Awards
Each year, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) ranks the academic performance of the nation’s collegiate swimming and diving teams, presenting Scholar All-America awards to the sport’s top performers. Brown swimmers continued to excel in the classroom as well is in the pool during the 2012-2013 season, and both the men’s team and the women’s team earned a selection as a CSCAA NCAA Division I Scholar All-America Team.

Brown Women's Swimming and Diving Celebrates Season at 2013 Banquet
The Brown women’s swimming and diving team held its annual awards banquet on Thursday, April 18th at the Faculty Club, and five student-athletes were honored with team awards. The coaches also used the evening to acknowledge the team’s success this season, its first in the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center, and recognize the dedication and contributions of the Brown women’s swimming and diving class of 2013: Perry Ashenfelter (Needham, MA), Meghan Earley (Orange, CT), Julia Guimond (Barrington, NH), Kristin Jackson (Falmouth, ME) and Elizabeth Matthews (Makawao, HI).

Speakman Finishes 16th at NCAA Division I Zone A Diving Championships
On Saturday, March 16, freshman diver Rachel Speakman (Hudson, OH) represented the Brown women’s swimming and diving team at the 2013 NCAA Division I Zone A Diving Meet. After earning a qualifying standard in the 1-meter event during the regular season, Speakman advanced to the post-season, where she competed against some of the best divers in the region in the hopes of qualifying for the 2013 NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships.

Borgolini Breaks Own School Record As Brown Finishes Seventh in Ivy League Championships
The Brown women’s swimming and diving team concluded competition in the 37th Women’s Swimming and Diving Ivy League Championships held at Princeton’s DeNunzio pool this evening, earning a seventh place team finish with 678.5 points. In the seven events contested in the meet’s final day, the Bears produced one school record, seven top-eight finishes and 13 season-best times.

The Brown women’s swimming and diving team had another solid day of swims at the 37th Women’s Swimming and Diving Ivy League Championships held at Princeton’s DeNunzio pool. With one day left to go, the Bears sit in seventh place with 445.5 points. In the eight events contested, the squad accumulated one school record, five top eight finishes and 13 best times.

Brown Begins Competition in the 37th Ivy League Women's Swimming & Diving Championships
The Brown women’s swimming and diving team will begin competition today in the 37th Ivy League Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships at DeNunzio Pool in Princeton, New Jersey, joining the seven other members of the Ancient Eight to determine the best and brightest swimmers of the league.

Brown Smashes School Record in 400 Medley Relay on First Day of Ivy League Championships
At the conclusion of day one of the 37th Women’s Swimming and Diving Ivy League Championships, held at Princeton’s DeNunzio pool, the Brown women’s swimming and diving team sits in sixth place with 189.5 points. Over the course of six events, the squad accumulated one school record, three top eight finishes and 13 best times, leaving the Bears’ primed for two more stellar days of swimming.

Brown Concludes Dual Meet Season with 173-127 Loss to Yale
The Brown women’s swimming and diving team (6-5, 2-5 Ivy League) concluded the 2012-2013 dual meet season on Monday with a 173-127 loss to the Yale Bulldogs (5-2, 5-2 Ivy League) at the Kiphuth Exhibition Pool. With the result, the Bears enter the Ivy League championship meet with a 6-5 overall record, including two wins against league foes Dartmouth and Penn.

Brown Defeated by Cornell on Senior Day, 153-147
The Brown women’s swimming and diving team (6-4, 2-4 Ivy League) suffered a narrow, 153-147 loss to the Big Red of Cornell (2-6, 1-6 Ivy League) this afternoon in an Ivy League meet held at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center. Prior to the start of the team’s last home competition of the season, the Bears took the time to honor the contributions and accomplishments of Perry Ashenfelter (Needham, MA), Meghan Earley (Orange, CT), Julia Guimond (Barrington, NH), Kristin Jackson (Falmouth, ME) and Elizabeth Matthews (Makawao, HI), the five members of the class of 2013.

Brown Falls to Columbia, 186-108
The Brown women’s swimming and diving team (6-3, 2-3 Ivy League) turned in some impressive performances over the course of the afternoon but ultimately fell, 186-108, to the Columbia Lions (4-2, 3-2 Ivy League) at Uris Pool. Kate Dillione (Newtown, PA) was the Bears’ lone individual event winner, but the squad grabbed a handful of second and third place finishes along the way, swimming tough against a strong team from Columbia.

Brown Sneaks By Bryant, 96-90
The Brown women’s swimming (6-2, 2-1 Ivy League) earned a 96-90 victory over the Bryant Bulldogs in a non-league competition held at Elizabeth and Malcom Chace Wellness Center on Thursday, January 24.

Brown Triumphs Over Penn, 219-80, and Falls to Harvard, 208-92
The Brown women’s swimming and diving team (5-2, 2-2 Ivy League) earned a commanding win over Penn, 219-80, while falling to Harvard, 208-92, in a double dual meet held at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center on Saturday. The Bears won 12 of the 14 individual events in their meet with the Quakers, while junior Briana Borgolini (Ballston Spa, NY) was the sole individual winner against the Crimson, taking top honors in the 100 and 200 breaststroke.

Brown Sinks Providence, 129-91
On Saturday, January 5, the Brown women’s swimming and diving team (4-1, 1-1 Ivy League) claimed their first win of the new year, a 129-91 victory over the Providence College Friars. In a unique set-up, the swimming events were held at Providence’s Taylor Natatorium, a short course meter facility, while the action on the boards occurred at Brown’s Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center. In total, the Bears won all thirteen of the events contested, with freshman diver Rachel Speakman (Hudson, OH) claiming the top spot on both boards.

Brown Women Earn the 18th Spot in the Latest Mid-Major Rankings
In the second of four Mid-Major rankings released annually by the website collegeswimming.com, the Brown women’s swimming and diving team (3-1, 1-1 Ivy League) was ranked 18th out of the 74 schools that submitted entries.

Borgolini Shines as the Brown Women Take Third at the 2012 Brown Invitational
At the end of the third and final day of the 2012 Brown Invitational, the Brown women’s swimming and diving team claimed the third spot out of the eight teams in attendance, solidly defeating Ivy League rival Dartmouth. Concluding the weekend with competition in five individual events and a relay, the Bears claimed another first place finish as well as numerous season best times.

Brown Moves into Third Place After Claiming Two First Place FInishes on Day Two
With one day of competition left to go in the 2012 Brown Invitational, the Brown women’s swimming and diving team sits in third place out of the eight teams in attendance. The second day of swimming and diving featured six individual events and two relays, showcasing the Bears’ versatility and depth. At the conclusion of the evening session, Brown had tallied 13 top-eight finishes, including victories in the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

Tong Grabs Third in the 50 Free as the Bears Sit in Fourth After Day One of the Brown Invitational
At the end of the first day of competition in the 2012 Brown Invitational, the first to be held in the newly constructed Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center, the Brown women’s swimming and diving team sits in fourth place out of the eight teams in attendance, less than 50 points shy of Ivy League rival, Dartmouth. In a day that featured just four individual events and two relays, the Bears accumulated 31 season-best times and scores, as well as five top-eight finishes.

Brown Welcomes Seven Teams to the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatic Center for the Brown Invitational
The Brown swimming and diving teams will host seven intercollegiate squads this weekend in the first annual Brown Invitational. The Bears welcome Ivy League foes Dartmouth, Princeton, Columbia and Yale, as well as teams from Army, Rider and the University of New Hampshire. Competition will take place from Friday, November 30 to Sunday, December 2 at the newly constructed Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center. Trials sessions begin at 11am on the first two days of competition, with finals beginning at 6pm. Sunday’s sessions will be moved up an hour with swimming and diving commencing at 10am and then again at 5pm.

Brown Wins Second in a Row, Triumphing over UMASS, 172-126
In the first official competition to be held in the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center at Brown University, the women’s swimming and diving team (2-0) completed the weekend sweep, crushing the UMASS Minutewomen (2-2), 172 to 126. The Bears captured eleven first place finishes in the afternoon competition, including several one-two finishes, and freshman Reia Tong (Bethesda, MD) went eight-for-eight on the weekend, claiming four victories in each meet.

Tong Wins Four in Collegiate Debut as Brown Tops Boston University, 152-148
The Brown University women’s swimming and diving team opened up the 2012-2013 season with a non-league meet against Boston University on Friday afternoon. The Bears triumphed over a strong Terrier squad, claiming their first win of the season, 152-148, in a meet where the winner was not decided until the last relay. The Bears were led by freshman Reia Tong (Bethesda, MD), a four-time event winner, and junior Briana Borgolini (Ballston Spa, NY), who claimed both breastroke titles.
