Bears battle snow, Penn and Princeton

The Brown women's squash team traveled to Princeton and Penn over the snowy weekend of December 6/7, falling in matches with the Tigers and Quakers.

After a 9 1/2 hour journey to Princeton, the Bears competed bravely against a very strong Tiger squad and although the Brown team lost, 9-0, there were numerous individual efforts which showed the potential of the Brown team.

At #1 First Team All-American Lillian Rosenthal '05 lost a second game tie-breaker to First Team All-American Canadian Ruchika Kumar. At #3 Erin Andrews' 07 lost in three close games to Canadian G. Lessard. Katie Lew '07 at #5 battled well with Tricia Gadsen and fellow freshman Nathalie Pierrepont lost in four tough games at #8 to F. Comey. At #10 Jen Neff almost prevailed but fell in five games to M.Kelly.

At Penn the women lost, 8-1, but had numerous close matches. Quakers second Team All Americn Linda McNair from Zimbabwe was dispatched by an on-form Lillian Rosenthal (2,3,1) while at #2, the Bears' Zarah Rahman fell in a close match to Canadian R. Ahluwalia.

At #6 Co-Captain Tara Gibbons 04 lost in five after being 2-0 up to L. Riley, and freshman Nathalie Pierrepont had a great battle at #8 before losing, 3-2. Rebecca Hurwitz 06 and Jen Neff '06 also lost out 3-2 after playing some great squash throughout their respective matches.

The next matches for the Women's Squash team is at the Williams Invitational on January the 10th.
