Providence, RI – In its last home match of the season, the #9 Brown women's squash team honored its five seniors by playing with a lot of spirit in a 9-0 loss to #2 Harvard. The seniors are co-captains #3 Sarah Crosky (Williamstown, MA) and #7 Sarah Beresford (Barrington, RI), as well as #9 Lydia Smith (Lake Forest, IL), Kyla Harrington (Rye, NY) and Antonia Libassi (Greenwich, CT).
Crosky played a strong match against the Crimson, barely touching the top of the tin on her shots. She pushed the pace with her endurance, moving all over the court, but lost, 3-0. Beresford also played well in her final home match, keeping the score of each set close, only losing 11-9, 11-7, and 11-7.
Smith stepped up her game for her last home match, winning a fantastic second game, 11-2. Harrington also played extremely well, making her final appearance on Brown's courts by winning her exhibition match.
Coach Stuart leGassick watched on the side as his seniors played at the Kate Brodsky Squash Pavilion for the last time. "I am so sad to see our eight seniors playing their last home college matches," reminisces Coach leGassick. "The time has flown by. The team appreciates all their hard work and enthusiasm on and off the courts. They have all, for four years, represented Brown in the best of traditions and been wonderful ambassadors for the university, their teammates and themselves."
The team will travel to play #8 Dartmouth in Hanover, NH on February 10.
