Bears Play for NCAA Bid
May 3, 2004
After the Brown softball team swept Yale in a doubleheader on Saturday, May 1 it clinched the Ivy Title, sharing first-place honors with Cornell. Since both teams finished at 10-4 in the Ivy League, a best of three series will be played to determine the NCAA bid. A doubleheader will take place on Saturday, May 8 at Brown at 1pm and if necessary one game will be played on Sunday, May 9.
This marks the Bears first Ivy Title since 1997 and Coach Pam McCreesh's first since coming to Brown in 2002. The Bears finished their season 19-18 and 10-4 in the Ivy League.
This will mark the third meeting between the two teams who split a doubleheader earlier in the season. The Bears fell in game one, 12-3, but came back to defeat the Big Red 8-7 in game two.
