Senior co-captain Uchenna Omokaro (Hercules, CA) earned Ivy League Pitcher of the Week for her performance on the mound and at the plate in the Bear's doubleheader split with San Jose State. This is Omokaro's first time honor as Pitcher of the Week.
In Monday's doubleheader with San Jose State, Omokaro held the Spartan bats to only three hits in ten innings pitched and at the plate went 4-7 with one run scored. The Ivy League Pitcher of the Year last season, Omokaro picked off where she left off record the Bear's first win of the season in the 3-2, game one win over the Spartans. The senior right-hander surrendered two runs, on two hits, in seven innings striking out nine including a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the third inning. At the plate, Omokaro was a solid contributor to the Brown offense, going 2-3, scoring what proved to be the winning run in the top of the fifth inning in game one. In game two, Omokaro pitched three innings of relief, giving up just one hit and one unearned run.
Omokaro and the Bears will face Pacific Tuesday, March 29, having the first pitch thrown at 5:00 PM ET in the doubleheader with the Tigers.
