Providence, RI - The Brown softball team (1-3) opened the 2008 season competing at the Lady Bucs College Softball Tournament. The Bears defeated Oakland, 5-4, but lost to Toledo, Charleston Southern, and lost to Oakland during the consolation game on Saturday afternoon.
A designated hitter, Anderson batted .800 in Brown's four games over the weekend and started in each one. She tallied eight hits in 10 at bats, including two RBIs. In the team's victory over the Grizzlies, she went two-for-two, including one RBI and a walk. In their second match-up against Oakland, she went two-for-three from the plate, including a double, and also tallied a walk.
The Bears will not travel to Balitmore, where they will compete at the UMBC Dawg Pound Tournament. They are scheduled to play Canisius at 9:30 a.m. on March 7, and then UMBC at 3:30 p.m.
