The Brown softball team dropped a pair of games to the Harvard Crimson on Saturday afternoon in Boston, by scores of 6-2 and 3-0. The Bears fall to 6-28 overall, 3-7 in the Ivy League, while the Crimson improve to 15-18 overall, 6-4 in the league.

The Harvard pitching duo of Chelsea Thoke (San Marino, CA) and Tiffany Whitton (Brea, CA) were too much for the Bears to handle in the first contest, as the two combined for ten strikeouts and allowed only four Brown hits in the 6-2 loss. Whitton was one of three Harvard athletes to pick up three hits in the game, and Thoke's one hit was a solo homerun in the second inning. For Brown, Julia Iudicello (McLean, VA) was 1-for-4 with an RBI triple and Lauren Wong (Mountain View, CA) was 1-for-2 with a run and one RBI. Ellie Blake (Downers Grove, IL) was tagged with the loss on the mound, giving up four earned runs and ten hits before Aleana Sutton (West Hartford, CT) came in for relief in the sixth inning.

Despite out-hitting the Crimson in the second contest and getting strong pitching from Sutton on the mound, Brown was shut out 3-0. Both Wong and Iudicello picked up two hits apiece, but Whitton came up big again for the Crimson, this time allowing four hits in 3.1 innings pitched and batting 2-for-3 at the plate. Her two hits were both extra bases, the first a double and the second her sixth homerun of the season. She drove in all three of Harvard's runs. Sutton allowed only seven hits and three runs in six innings pitched to pick up the loss, while Kara Brotemarkle (Clifton, VA) earned the victory after relieving Whitton in the third and holding Brown scoreless.
