Providence, RI - The Bears (7-21, 1-9 Ivy) dropped two games to Dartmouth (8-21, 4-6 Ivy) on Friday afternoon. Brown fell 5-2 in the first game, and went on lose 13-0 in five innings in the second.
In the first game, Dartmouth got on the scoreboard first, as they jumped to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning. With freshman Jessica Iwasaki (Cupertino, CA) at the mound, the Big Green's Nikki Yee started the inning off with a single, as did Katie Chifcian up next. A single by Sarah Bankoff scored one run and the second was scored on a grounder to second base.
Dartmouth picked up another run in the third and the fourth (a home run by Chifcian), but the Bears finally got on the board in the fourth, scoring two runs. The offense was started off by freshman Katie Rothamel's (Brentwood, TN) single to the left side. She was scored after a single by freshman Andrea Browne (Vineland, NJ), and Browne scored after a hit by sophomore Kaitlyn Laabs (Redlands, CA) to put the score at 4-2.
The Big Green tallied another run in the top of the seventh after Yee scored when Ashley Gleason doubled. The Bears weren't able to catch up, and ended the game with a 5-2 loss.
Browne went three-for-four from the plate, scoring one run and posting one RBI. Laabs was one-for-two with one RBI.
Dartmouth exploded in game two, as they tallied 13 runs in five innings, defeating the Bears 13-0 with sophomore Michelle Moses (Cooper City, FL) at the mound. The Big Green brought in one run in the second, three in the third, six in the fourth (including a home run by Gleason) and three in the fifth to end the game.
The Bears had just three hits as a team and had three errors in the field.
Brown will match-up against Dartmouth again tomorrow, in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
