Princeton, NJ - The softball team was swept by the Princeton Tigers, losing game one 3-0, and game two 4-0, in this afternoon's Ivy League match-up. The Bears were unable to get going offensively, as the Tigers held Brown to only five hits on the day. Brown falls to 11-21 overall and 1-3 in Ivy League play.
In game one the Bears fell victim to last year's Pitcher of the Year, Princeton's Erin Snyder as the right handed senior only allowed two hits and fanning 19 in the win. Freshman Kelsey Wilson and senior Mary Seid were the only two that got the bat on the ball for the two hits. Wilson also was able to make it to first on her next at bat as Princeton's shortstop committed the error to put the freshman on.
Princeton was able to get on the board early as their lead-off got on and made her way to third on an error by Brown's left fielder freshman Kaitlyn Laabs. The run was later brought in on a bunt single for the 1-0 lead. The Tigers tacked on a run in the second and fifth for the 3-0 game one final. Freshman Michelle Moses recorded the game one loss pitching seven innings allowing three runs on six hits and struck out two.
Brown didn't fare well in game two, as freshman Kristen Schindler recorded the loss allowing four runs, three of which were earned, on eight hits. Seid, Wilson and freshman Kaitlyn Laabs recorded hits in the loss.
The Bears will return to action on Saturday, April 15, hosting Ivy League foe Harvard for a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader match-up.
