Bears Beat Sacred Heart, Fall To Niagara and UMBC

Baltimore, MD - The Bears wrapped up the second day of the UMBC Tournament, falling to Niagara 7-1 and host UMBC 9-1, but handing Sacred Heart a 4-3 loss on a three run homerun off the bat of senior Jaimie Wirkowski in the fifth inning. Wirkowski finished the day going 3-8 with four runs batted in. Senior Mary Seid also had a strong showing with the bat going 5-7.
In the second game of the day against Sacred Heart the Bear's took advantage of the long ball as all four runs came in on homeruns, three from Wirkowski and sophomore Linnea Anderson hit a solo shot early in the game. Seid finished the game 2-2 from the plate.
Against UMBC Wirkowski finished strong the day strong getting a double bringing in the Bears lone run in the game. Seid finished 2-3 while Baxter went 1-2.
The Bears will take on UMBC in the semi-finals at 11:00 a.m. the winner goes on to the championship game later in the afternoon.
