PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University softball junior outfielder Meghan Wimmer has earned Third Team NFCA All-Northeast Region honors, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced on Thursday.
Wimmer (Boothwyn, Pa.) Earned First Team All-Ivy accolades this spring and led the team in batting average (.398), home runs (seven), RBIs (23), runs (21), hits (39), on-base percentage (.496), slugging percentage (.724), and walks (18), while standing second in the Ivy League in slugging, third in OBP, and fifth in batting average.
A team captain and the program's MVP, Wimmer posted a .340 batting average, .441 OBP, .509 slugging percentage, 18 hits, nine runs, nine RBIs, three doubles, two homers, and eight walks in Ivy play. In the circle, she pitched five complete games and 72.2 innings on the year, while striking out 42 batters.
NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible to garner 2018 NFCA Division I All-America laurels.
