Andrews, Leung Land on Softball All-Ivy Second Team

2014 Softball All-Ivy Release

PRINCETON, N.J. – Brown softball freshman infielder Christina Andrews (Southlake, Texas) and sophomore shortstop Janet Leung (Mississauga, Ontario) landed on the 2014 All-Ivy League Second Team, it was announced by league office on Tuesday.

After a standout rookie season, Andrews played her way onto the Second Team as a utility player, splitting time between second base, third base and the pitcher's circle. Andrews led the team in hitting with a .288 batting average and finished first on the squad in home runs (3) and runs scored (17). One of four players to appear in all 38 games, Andrews was named Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Week on March 11 after batting .500 (8-for-16) with three doubles and a homer over six games at the Loyola Marymount Tournament.

An Honorable Mention All-Ivy selection a year ago, Leung led the team with a .317 batting average during Ancient Eight play and ranked first on the team in RBI (11) and at bats (120). She finished second on the team in hits (28), doubles (7) and runs scored (13) while starting all 38 games at shortstop. Leung helped the Bears secure their first Ivy League win of the season when she went a combined 4-for-8 with a double and a homer in a doubleheader split against Yale on April 27.
