Providence, RI- The Brown University softball team will host Cornell in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 6, followed by a doubleheader vs. Princeton on Saturday, April 7. A live radio broadcast will be available for Friday's game against the Big Red.
The Bears enter the weekend with a 5-13 record and a 2-2 mark in Ivy League play. Junior Stephanie Thompson (Chino, CA) earned Ivy League Player of the Week honors for the second straight week after batting .769 for the weekend. She went 10-for-13 at the plate, including a double and a homerun. She also added two runs scored and five RBI. She is the Ivy League leader in batting average with a team-high .544 average.
First baseman Kate Strobel (Denver, CO) is also helping out the Bears offense going .385 from the plate. She's combined for 20 hits, 10 runs sored, five doubles, five homeruns and 15 RBI.
Cornell enters today's competition with a 12-13 record and are 3-1 in the Ivy League. The squad is being le by Morgan Cawley, who has a team-high .341 average. She has tallied 15 hits, five RBI and four doubles. Cornell's Lauren Marx (5-1) leads the team on the mound with a 2.08 ERA.
Princeton is 6-19 overall with a 2-2 record in the Ivy League. The Tigers enter the weekend with senior Nicole Ontiveros as the team's top hitter at .337, while junior Alex Peyton has a team-best five home runs. Junior Liza Kuhn leads the team in the circle with a 3.73 ERA and a 3-7 record.
