Providence, RI- Brown University junior shortstop Stephanie Thompson (Chino, CA) had an outstanding start in the Bears' opening Ivy League games this weekend to earn her second consecutive Ivy League Player of the Week honor.
Bruno went 2-2 after dropping two games to the Penn Quakers on Friday afternoon, and defeated Columbia in a doubleheader on Sunday. Thompson batted .769 for the weekend and combined for 10 hits on 13 at bats, including a double and a homerun. She also added two runs scored and five RBI.
Thompson is now the NCAA Division I leader in batting average, hitting a .544 clip. She also leads Brown in runs scored (12), hits (31), RBI (17) and walks (9). She has a .557 on base percentage and a .877 slugging percentage.
