    Brown Athletics Does Not Renew Contract of Head Softball Coach Dee Dee Enabenter-Omidiji Providence, R.I. – Brown Athletics announced today that the contract of head softball coach Dee Dee Enabenter-Omidiji would not be renewed. Enabenter-Omidiji’s contract expires June 30, 2012.

    Spring Academic All-Ivy Announced Providence, RI – The Ivy League released its list of student-athletes selected for 2012 spring Academic All-Ivy, with 10 Brown student-athletes being recognized. The five females and five males were starters or key reserves on an officially recognized varsity team with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.

    Stephanie Thompson Named Ivy League Co-Player of the Year; Kate Strobel & Avery Silverstein earn All-Ivy honors Providence, RI- Junior Stephanie Thompson (Chino, CA) was named the Ivy League Co-Player of the Year and earned first team All-Ivy honors after a vote by the league's coaches. Also, senior Kate Strobel (Denver, CO) received first team All-Ivy honors, and junior Avery Silverstein (Woodbridge, CT) earned Honorable Mention All-Ivy accolades.

    Kate Strobel & Stephanie Thompson Named CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District Providence, R.I. – Senior Kate Strobel (Denver, CO) and junior Stephanie Thompson (Chino, CA) earned CoSIDA/Capital One First Team Academic All-District honors. Selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America that recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom, Strobel and Thompson will now move onto the national ballot for Academic All-American consideration.

    Brown Softball Drops Two to Yale to End Season New Haven, CT – The Brown University softball team dropped its final two games of the season to Yale this afternoon at Dewitt Family Field. The Bulldogs posted an 8-1 victory over Bruno in game one, and then defeated the Bears 1-0 in game two. Brown ended the year with a 10-27 overall record and a 7-13 mark in Ivy League play.

    Brown Softball Defeats Yale in Doubleheader Providence, RI- In the final doubleheader at home of the 2012 season, the Brown University softball team earned two victories over the visiting Yale Bulldogs this afternoon at the Erickson Athletic Complex. Brown defeated the Bulldogs 10-1 in six innings in game one, and then followed it up with an 8-2 win in game two.

    Bears Close Out Non-Conference Schedule with 5-3 Loss to Bryant Smithfield, RI- The Brown University softball team (8-25, 5-11 Ivy) suffered a 5-3 loss to in-state rival Bryant (16-21) on a windy Tuesday afternoon at the Bryant Softball Complex at Conaty Park.

    Harvard Secures Series Sweep over Brown Cambridge, MA- The Brown University softball team (8-24, 5-11 Ivy) dropped two more games to Harvard (26-11, 15-1 Ivy) this afternoon at Soldiers Field. The Crimson defeated the Bears 5-0 in game one and then secured the series sweep by earning a 5-2 victory in game two. The Crimson clinched the North Division title with their victories this afternoon.

    Baseball & Softball’s Series with Harvard Moved to Friday-Saturday Providence, RI- The projected rain in the forecast for this weekend has forced a shift in the schedule for the Brown University baseball and softball teams. Both squads, slated to play a pair of doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday, will now play those games on Friday, April 20th and on Saturday, April 21st.

    Bears Walk-Off over Dartmouth Providence, RI- The Brown University women’s softball team earned two victories over Dartmouth College this afternoon to improve to 8-20 overall and 5-7 in the Ivy League. Both games were decided in the final inning, with Brown having two consecutive walk-off hits to defeat the Big Green. The first game it was junior Alyssa Caplan’s (San Mateo, CA) double that lifted Brown to a 5-4 victory, and in game two it was junior Stephanie Thompson’s (Chino, CA)single to take a 4-3 win.

    Bears Fall to Dartmouth in Doubleheader Providence, RI- The Brown University softball team dropped two games to Dartmouth College (10-15, 3-7 Ivy) on Saturday afternoon at the Erickson Athletic Complex. The Bears fell 6-4 in game one and 11-3 in game two to drop to 6-20 and 3-7 in the league. The two teams will square off again tomorrow with the doubleheader beginning at 12:30 p.m.

    Caplan’s Homerun in 11th Inning Earns Brown a Split vs. Princeton Providence, RI- With two outs in the bottom of the 11th inning, junior Alyssa Caplan hit a walk-off homerun to give the Bears a 2-1 victory and the split over the visiting Princeton Tigers this afternoon. Princeton topped the Bears 6-5 in the first game of the doubleheader. Brown improved to 6-16 overall and moved to 3-5 in the league as Princeton dropped to 9-20 and 5-3 in Ivy play.

Harrison Field. Junior Stephanie Thompson led the Brown offense going 2-for-4 at the plate with one RBI and one run scored, while Trista Chavez went 2-for-2 with one RBI.

The Bears then went on to drop the final game of the UMBC Spring Classic to the host Retrievers, 7-1.

The win improved Robert Morris to 9-11 on the year, while Brown dropped to 1-5.

    2012 Brown University Softball Season Outlook The Brown Softball team will open up the 2012 campaign on the road at the UTEP Invitational this Friday in El Paso, Texas. The Bears will face University of Texas – San Antonio in the opener of the tournament at 10am, then will face off against host UTEP in an afternoon game at 4:30pm. On Saturday the Bears will challenge Valparaiso at 2:00pm, and for the second time in as many days will battle with host UTEP at 4:00pm. On Sunday, the team will finish tournament play with a 9:00am game against Iowa State.
