Before Brown: A four-year letterwiner from Vincentian Academy playing both the pitcher and catcher position throughout her career ...Guided her team to a 2008 State Championship, three District Championships and four Sectional Championships ...  Melvin was a two-time All-Section pitcher (2009 & 2010) and received All-District and All-State honors in 2009 as a pitcher ... In 2007 and 2008 she received All-Section accolades as a catcher and earned All-State as a catcher in 2008.

Personal: Nina is the daughter of Gregory and Joan Orie Melvin ... Has four sisters; Casey, Bridget, Danielle and Trish, who is currently a member of the Brown softball team,  and one brother, John.
